Congressman Francis Rooney to Speak about the Role of Religion in Society
Naples, FL- Congressman Francis Rooney will be delivering remarks regarding the role of religion in society on Thursday, December 14th, 2017 at 7 PM at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Naples.
“I would like to thank Father Philemon Patitsas, Dr. Harry Dimopoulos, and the Christian Rights and Freedom Institute for inviting me to speak Thursday evening about the role of the Christian faith in our lives and society,” Congressman Rooney stated.
“Religion, rather than just being a ritual in a church, is a fundamental part of our essential humanity, and therefore is a driving force in American society. This has been a constant since the founding era, but is under threat from secularism today. It is up to us to preserve the morality and stability brought to society by our Christian values.”
Congressman Rooney has written extensively on religion, including an op-ed series published in May regarding the role of religious freedom in society and how religious freedom can combat Islamic extremism. He previously served as United States Ambassador to the Holy See under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2008.
The speech will occur on Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 PM. St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church is located at 7100 Airport Pulling Rd N., Naples, FL 34109. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Chris Berardi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
