Congressman Francis Rooney Tours Cape Coral and Lee County Emergency Operations Centers
Lee County, FL – Today Congressman Francis Rooney visited the Emergency Operations Centers of Lee County and the City of Cape Coral. It is important to bring attention to the vital services provided by these centers and remind residents that being prepared for emergencies, especially during hurricane season, is something that should be taken seriously.
Congressman Rooney stated, “Both Lee County and the City of Cape Coral have been leaders in preparing to handle emergency situations and in response to critical events. I am thankful for the highly skilled and efficient team members that staff our operations centers and respond to these emergencies, often leaving their own families to assist the larger Southwest Florida community. We can all make their jobs easier and our community safer by being properly prepared and heeding instructions during any events.”
The Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) are the focal point for coordination of emergency response and recovery activities. When activated for an emergency, the EOC is staffed with key personnel from first responder agencies, emergency relief organizations, County departments, municipalities, utility companies, media and other essential agencies. In addition to today’s visits, Congressman Rooney will be touring the Collier EOC on Friday, at 2:15PM.
