Congressman Francis Rooney Tours Collier County Emergency Operations Center
Collier County, FL – Today Congressman Francis Rooney visited the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of Collier County, following visits to the Lee County and City of Cape Coral EOCs earlier in the week. It is important to bring attention to the vital services provided by these centers and remind residents that being prepared for emergencies, especially during hurricane season, is something that should be taken seriously.
Congressman Rooney stated, “Just as we witnessed in visits to Lee County and Cape Coral, Collier County is leading the way in preparing to handle emergency situations and in response to critical events. I am thankful for the highly skilled and efficient team members that staff our operations centers and respond to area emergencies, often leaving their own families to assist the larger Southwest Florida community. We can all make their jobs easier and our community safer by being properly prepared and heeding instructions during any events.”
The Collier County Emergency Management Department manages the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This department serves all of Collier County, including City, State and Federal Agencies within the County. Essentially the EOC acts as a multi-agency coordinator before, during and after a major or disastrous event.
